TEC Presents: Augi Lye, CEO of Trendy Entertainment

entrepreneur Augi Lye.

He’s dabbled in a bit of everything: from playing violin & cello in a rock
band to being lead engineer in a camera-based vision processing system. He
currently acts as CEO of ToneRite, a company whose device, which Augi
invented, ages any string instrument as well as CEO of Trendy
Entertainment. (As described on TE’s website.)

In addition to sharing his story, Lye will also be speaking about the
release of Trendy Entertainment’s newest game product, Dungeon Defenders,
which came out on PS3 and X-Box on October 24th. (for more info, visit

LAST TEC MEETING OF THE SEMESTER

This week, we will be hosting Alexa Carlin and Angela Ribler of Hello Perfect.

Hello Perfect (www.helloperfect.com) was founded by Alexa Carlin, 20,
a junior business administration major at the University of Florida.
She currently runs the company with Angela Ribbler out of their
Gainesville apartment.

Hello Perfect works to spread the message that the challenge in life
is not to become perfect, it’s accepting that you already are. The two
recently launched a radio talk show, Hello Perfect radio, which airs
on w4cy.com. Hello Perfect is working to turn this company into a
worldwide movement that transforms the way perfection is perceived in
society, especially the fashion and beauty industries.

As always, come out and listen to the stories who have taken that
first step towards making their vision a reality.

Presenting: Rob Castellucci, Co-Founder of Roomsync!

This week, TEC will be hosting Rob Castellucci of RoomSync!

Rob Castellucci is co-founder and VP of Marketing at RoomSync, the
leading Facebook app for roommate self-selection at universities across
the country.

Prior to founding RoomSync, Rob was Associate at Synogen, a
seed-stage venture fund that invests in medical device startups spun out
from UF patented technologies.

He is active in the local Gainesville community, serving on several entrepreneurial and economic development initiatives including Innovation Gainesville, Young Entrepreneurs forLeadership and Change, and Envision Alacuha. He also dances salsa and graduated with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Marketing and Masters of Science in Entrepreneurship from the University of Florida in 2008.

Come out this week to listen to Rob share his story and answer any questions you may have.

TEC THINK – Brainstorming session with Nelson Logan, chair of Vistage Florida

Each meeting, TEC aims to bring in speakers from all areas of the
entrepreneurial landscape to share, inform and most importantly
INSPIRE you to act on and execute your ideas. At some point,
inspiration must turn into action to serve its purpose.

Which is why we’re changing things up this week.

Have an idea you’re itching to share but aren’t sure what to make of
it? Are you looking to partner up? Need assistance with development?

This Tuesday, TEC will be hosting a brainstorming discussion with
intentions of turning your idea into a reality by taking those first
steps. We’ve got the brainpower. We’ve got the will. This is the way.

Amir Rubin, whom we met at last week’s tour of Innovation Hub, will

Presenting: Andy Sherrard, President of O2B Kids!

This week, TEC will be hosting Andy Sherrard, co-founder and president
of O2B Kids.

For the past 16 years Sherrard has managed the day to day operations
of O2B Kids with a primary emphasis in the areas of finance,
marketing, branding, program development, andstrategic planning.
Currently, Andy manages six O2B Kids locations in 3 cities with annual
revenues of $9 million. In 2009 & 2010, Inc.Magazine identified O2B
Kids as one of the fastest growing companiesin America and the 40th
fastest growing education company and the Gainesville Area Chamber of
Commerce selected O2B Kids as Gainesville’s Business of the Year in
2006.

Prior to O2B Kids, Sherrard spent six years with Gainesville Health &
Fitness Center (GHFC), ranked as the number one fitness center in the
world by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association.
With over 20,000 active members, GHFC is a customer service legend and
served as the entrepreneurial spark for O2B Kids.

Sherrard has an MBA (2004) and a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing (1990 –
High Honors), both from the University of Florida. He has served as
a Board Member for the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, the
United Way of North Central Florida, the Boys & Girls Club of Alachua
County, and the Alachua County Public School Foundation. At age
43, Sherrard is married and the proud parent of three children (and a dog).

Presenting: Sarah J. Knight, Gainesville Patent Attorney

We have the pleasure to welcome *Sarah J. Knight* next Tuesday at *7:30pm*at
*Hough Hall*. Sarah is a registered *Patent Attorney* in Gainesville. With
over 25 years of U.S. and International IP Law, she did not follow the
typical law school path. She studied Electrical Engineering at the
University of Florida for her undergraduate studies and went on to get her
masters and then went to the Levin College of Law at UF. If you have any
interest in technological innovation or you are just curious about patents,
Sarah Knight will be a great person to hear, especially at a time where we
hear a lot about patent wars between big companies (Apple, Microsoft,
Google, Samsung, ..) in the news.

If you want to be a member, *you can still join* at the next meeting! $20
